Caroline Senf, LPCA
We have all heard life be described in many different ways: as a gift, as beautiful, as unfair, as hard, as an adventure, etc. It would be tough to argue that any of these descriptors are untrue… life is an all-over-the-place, mixed bag full of highs and lows and endlessly diverse emotions and situations. Sometimes life is strikingly beautiful and other times or maybe even at the same time, it can be incredibly difficult and painful. Sometimes we find ourselves in a season where we need someone to walk beside us as we navigate the throws of life.
My role as a counselor is to come alongside you during these seasons to listen and support, provide perspective, encourage and enhance your ability to cope, structure change, elicit understanding or acceptance, challenge and/or hold accountable, and to stimulate both resiliency and personal growth.
My approach to counseling is client-focused and grounded in empirically supported research and the use of therapeutic techniques derived from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Person-Centered Therapy, mindfulness based interventions derived from DBT, and Brief Solution Focused Therapy.
I believe that the counseling process should be collaborative in nature, with each client’s needs and goals being the brightest guiding point for treatment planning and therapeutic practice. I also believe that in approaching therapy we must also approach each individual as a whole person, rather than a grouping of symptoms connected to a diagnosis. I hold that mental health is deeply connected to physical health and wellbeing, nutrition, social connectivity and community, one’s faith, and one’s cultural worldview. With this in mind, I welcome and value the entirety of each person and the unique facets that define individuality, contribute to mental health, and guide both short-term therapeutic and long-term life goal directives.
When you walk through my door, you will be met with warmth, empathy, genuine acceptance, and an abundance of hope. My goal is to help you flourish with purpose and peace in whatever season of life you may find yourself in.
